One of the best restaurants for toddlers at Disney
When you think about dining at Disney, typically Epcot or Magic Kingdom comes to mind. With all of the eats around the world at Epcot and the fun character experiences at Magic Kingdom, it feels like Hollywood Studios sometimes gets lost in…

Mother’s day weekend twist- Waldorf Astoria
My mom has always been the person who I relied on in all the different seasons of my life. I go through friends, different situations and even a variety of moves, but my mom has always been there in all of those moments. I am grateful to have such a good relationship with my mom. The day I gave birth to Camden, I knew my life had changed. This was also the moment where my gratitude towards my mom grew tremendously. The word appreciation gave me a whole different meaning. I couldn’t believe all that she had really done for me, and still does, 35 years later. That’s why, this year for Mother’s Day, I wanted to treat her. I called my mom and said, pack your bags, we are going to the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando! I wanted to give her the whole experience as the Waldorf is my absolutely favorite hotel in Orlando. You will learn why here shortly. I made us reservations for dining at Bull and Bear and I even booked us a cabana by the pool. I was so excited to share this with my mom, but plans had quickly changed.
Unfortunately, my mom couldn’t make the trip, as well we know the saying, life happens. This is exactly what happened. In this world of Disney references, “circle of life,” my mom needed to be with her mom. At this point, I looked at my husband and went, pack your bags, you boys are coming to the Waldorf this weekend.
Now, to go from a girls weekend, to bringing a toddler on this trip, you are probably thinking, is this even a good idea? Well, this is one reason why I love the Waldorf so much. It can be the most intimate adult resort, or it can be a great family vacation spot. Let me explain.
Just to be transparent, we did book this trip on 100% American Express Platinum points under the Fine Hotels & Resorts program. This means we got quite a few perks you won’t get when you just book the hotel. You don’t have to use points to get these perks, you just have to book under the Fine Hotels & Resorts from your Amex travel portal. These perks included…
-Breakfast for free for two people each morning of our stay
-4PM late checkout
-$100 credit to use on property
-$50 Hilton Honors credit (by being a gold member) you receive gold status automatically when you use the amex platinum card.

Let’s first give you a good idea of the Waldorf. It smells amazing. When you open the doors to the hotel, the smell just seeps out and you already feel relaxed just by sniffing the air. What I love so much about this property is its smallness. You are probably thinking, why would you want to stay in a hotel that felt small? This feeling makes for amazing customer service. By the time you leave, most of the staff will remember you. The last time we were at the Waldorf, it was Mother’s day last year. It has been a full year. We walked into breakfast the morning we woke up, and our server said, it is so good to see you again, I cannot believe your son is so big now. Yes, our server remembered us from last year, as we also remembered her. This is the service where you feel like family. This gives you a relaxing feeling knowing you are taken care of. Since it was mother’s day, our server gave me a beautiful red rose and put it at the center of our table. These are the little things that make a big difference.
The property is always very clean, you can always find a spot at the pool and your pool server is never overwhelmed. They will even come check on you while you are in the pool for refills! The pool was warm, so we spent a lot of time in the pool. My little man loves to swim, so we were able to wear him out. The Waldorf property is located next to the Hilton Signia, and at that property, they have an awesome lazy river. When you stay at the Waldorf, you can walk over and use the pool at the Signia! After swimming we went to the pool bar, Aquamarine and had their famous “Waldorf chicken wrap.” It lived up to the expectation!
Did you know that the Waldorf Astoria was the first hotel to start room service? Since they were the first, they are the best. We ordered room service for dinner, and it lived up to the expectation. Our server not only delivered our food, but we came in and set the table for us and gave us a food tour of what we ordered. When we were finished, he came back and helped us clean everything up.
Sleeping at the Waldorf is never an issue. This is the first hotel where every time I leave, I look up how much the sheets are pillows are. The beds are just that comfy. The rooms are all renovated, so they look brand new. This time we stayed in my favorite suite, the deluxe suite. It is the perfect size, has a table to sit and have meals or order room service, and an extra room for when you want to put your little one to bed early, or down for a nap. We did just that! Not to forget, the robes and slippers. The absolute comfiest set at a hotel. The first thing I did when I got to the suite was getting out the robes and slippers and activated chill mode.
The other nice thing to mention is the TV’s in the room have access to apps. Therefore, I was able to easily login to Disney plus for my little man, and then it automatically logged you out when you checked out. This was an awesome feature as the first day we checked in after some time at Animal Kingdom, so we just wanted to stay in and rest.
Even though I didn’t get the mom’s only weekend I was hoping for, even changing up plans and bringing the boys, I had a great trip and an awesome Mother’s day! Every time we go, I never want to leave. Every time we leave, I always want to go back!
