One of the best restaurants for toddlers at Disney

When you think about dining at Disney, typically Epcot or Magic Kingdom comes to mind. With all of the eats around the world at Epcot and the fun character experiences at Magic Kingdom, it feels like Hollywood Studios sometimes gets lost in the sauce. No pun intended.

One afternoon, my husband and I were discussing which park we should take the little man to that day. We are huge foodies and love Disney for their dining experiences. We hadn’t been to Hollywood in a long time, and I suggested we go and try this “bbq” place. I looked up Round up Rodeo, and online it looked really cute. I decided not to tell my husband about it, but just tell him it’s a bbq spot. I really wanted him to have a non biased opinion and not see any photos prior!

As we were walking towards Round Up Rodeo, which is located in toy story land, we both started to get excited. As were passing slinky dog and Toy Story mania, to our right was the entrance to the restaurant. We both looked at each other and smiled in a kid giddy way, and already knew it was going to be fun. As we checked in to the restaurant outside, you were welcomed into the Rodeo with your favorite Disney characters on the building with large toys from the movie all around you. We knew we were in for a treat.

Before we even walked in, Daniel, our host, came out and got us. He said welcome to Round up Rodeo, I wanted to come personally meet you at the front door, as I will be your server. Wow, what customer service. Daniel asked Camden if he wanted to ride a horse to the table. Yessss, you can ride a horse to the table! My little one is a bit on the cautious side, so this time, no horse. And sorry guys, not a real horse, you know those sticks with a horse head. Anyway, it made for awesome entertainment watching grown adults ride these to their table. When we sat at our table, we looked around and the interior looked like it was just from the movie. Bright, vibrant colors with toy story animations filled the room.

We got started with some drinks, Kyle had a Jai Lai, and I had a peach tea! Both were very delicious! We were next greeted with HUGE biscuits! We learned they have a name, The prospector’s homemade cheddar biscuits with sweet pepper jelly. These were so big, we even laughed at their heaviness and said we’ve never had biscuits this big before, and they were delicious! It was so hard to not eat so many of them and save room for the main dish. There’s a lot of food on this menu. Not to mention, it’s all you care to eat! With the biscuits came a watermelon salad and a cucumber salad. Both were great, but I liked the watermelon salad the best!

While we are enjoying our starters, Woody came over the loudspeaker and says Sid is coming, and we should hide! Everyone in the restaurant, including the servers, froze!  No one moved or made a sound! Once we knew Sid had left, we were clear! This was just one of the magical moments we enjoyed. I don’t want to give it all away!

After your stomach is basically full from biscuits and salads, you get served the MEGA portion. They offer a meat platter and a vegetarian platter. My family is basically carnivores, so we went for the meat platter! The platter offered evil Dr. smoked ribs,  buttercup’s beef brisket, There’s a sausage in my boot – fire-grilled pork sausage, bbq chicken – with Style! buckin’ baked beans. Don’t forget the side. Mac and cheese, potatoes, potato salad, peep my picture below for the entire platter! There was not one food item on this platter that was not enjoyed. This is why I believe this restaurant and dining in Hollywood deserves more credit! We got second portions, and ate until we couldn’t breathe. Not literally!

We ended the experience with dessert, after forgetting that they gave you dessert that is! We asked for the check once Daniel cleared our platter, and man, he laughed at us and said, you still have dessert! Ok fine, we decided we would find room so we could have the full experience. Daniel let us try each one, and Camden was served the dessert version forky on his plate! Since I gave the details for our meal, I think I will leave the dessert a mystery, so you can try for yourself!

I rate this high on my list for places to eat at Disney for toddlers because of the fun experiences, quick food service, food options, and of course the bright colors of the atmosphere! This is an awesome option, especially for those little ones under three! This is a place the whole family can enjoy!

All in all, we had an amazing time at Round up Rodeo, from the service, the food, and magical moments! Next time you’re in the park…”reach for the sky” and give it a try!
